Warriors, join us in congratulating our April Members of the Month, Lori Larkins and Rick Christian! We asked them to share a little bit about their time here at Mighty Warrior and we hope you enjoy their answers as much as we did!
What's been your proudest moment at Mighty Warrior?
Lori: Starting! I remember my first couple months were very intimidating and challenging. I always believed if it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you and CrossFit has Changed me!
Rick: Hmmm.... doing Fran RX for the first time.
What's your favorite workout?
Lori: Anything ab and cardio related; toes to bar, sit ups, rowing and pull ups. I love when we run outside in the warmer months!
Rick: Cindy is my favorite workout but I also enjoy squatting.
What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to start CrossFit?
Lori: Bring a friend or whoever invited you to hold you accountable. Give it 30 days. Show up no matter what. The coaches and the members are super friendly, supportive and most of all won’t judge you!
Rick: Don’t hesitate. What are you waiting for? You’re not going to get fit by thinking about it.
What’s a fun fact about you that most Warriors might not know?
Lori: I went gorilla tracking in the Republic of the Congo (Africa). When we found the family of gorillas we were searching for, two of the babies were swinging and chasing each other while the mother was breast feeding her third baby. I got close enough to reach out my hand and when I did, she reached out hers and touched mine!
Rick: In a long-ago time, I was a broadcaster/disc jockey for a country music station and a AAA Traffic reporter for WJR on the JP McCarthy show.
What’s the next goal you’re looking to achieve?
Lori: I see many people as they age with little muscle mass which is critical for mobility and puts us at a higher risk of injury. My goal is not always to get bigger or beat my last weight but maintain and keep moving.... but most of all have fun while I am doing it!
Rick: Wow! So many goals. That’s what keeps me going. I’d say bar muscle ups and those dang double unders! It wouldn’t hurt my feelings to PR my Clean either.
Come one, come all. Is CrossFit really for everyone?
